About Margot
Born in Scotland, I graduated M.A. ( Hons.) in Geography. Scholarships then enabled singing studies in Geneva, London and Siena. This was followed by a profession as an operatic soloist, singing mainly Verdi, Puccini and Wagner; engagements included Glyndebourne, E.N.O., Royal Opera House, Liverpool Philharmonic and in Germany in Wuppertal, Kassel, Heidelberg and Oldenburg.
As a concert and oratorio soloist, I performed in Germany, Italy, England, Wales and Scotland.
Now living in North Berwick, I mainly paint in acrylics and watercolours, finding inspiration during walks on the beach.
In my seascapes and skyscapes, I aspire to show the drama, aesthetics and music in nature, desiring to capture these in moments of time.
For me painting is a process of discovery , seeking an emotional, spiritual, mystical dimension beyond that which the eye perceives. I endeavor to do this through my awareness of colour. Above all, I hope my paintings inspire and uplift.
